About

My name is Mike Lodes, I was a Cub Scout for about a month as a youth.  I’ve been an adult leader in scouts since my oldest son was a Tiger, serving as a Den Leader, CubMaster, Pack Committee Member, Pack Advancement Chair, Assistant Scoutmaster, Chartered Organization Rep, District Committee Member and Scoutmaster.

The name of the blog is a nod to the ongoing joke (I think they are joking?) around our Council that when you volunteer for Scouting,  they are only asking for an average of one hour a week.  I’m not sure how that works out.  Maybe your average over your lifetime?

The purpose of the blog is to formalize some of the successes and challenges that I am having along the trail, for perspective, reflection and hopefully to smooth things out for others coming along the trail as well.

  1. Love the title of the blog! I keep saying I’m working on the hour a week for July 21, 2026…. should probably be more like 2126. 🙂
